Donnino) sorse come santuario in onore della Madonna Assunta in Cielo nella seconda metà del XVI secolo. The church of Madonna della Croce was built towards the middle of the XVI centur in honour of Our Lady of the Assumption. As there was an image of the Virgin, which everybody used to venerate as miracolous, standing at a crossing, a group of believers decided to

e conservano affreschi cinquecenteschi. Pregevole è l'altare maggiore finemente lavorato che, simile all'iconostasi delle chiese bizantine, separa la navata dall'abside semicircolare. Al centro dell'altare si trova l'affresco della Madonna (il quale necessita di restauro). Bellissimo è il fonte battesimale del 1509, posto nella chiesa nel 1779, quando vi fu trasferita la pieve di S. Maria a Rubbiano e S. Donnino.		of grey sandstone, show some XVI century frescoes. The high altar, which separates the nave from the semicircular apsis, is finely carved and it reminds us of the iconostasis of the Byzantine churches. Just in the middle of the altar there is a fresco of the Virgin (which needs to be restored). The wonderful baptismal font (1509) is not to be missed. It was brought into the Church in 1779, when the parisches of S. Maria in Rubbiano and S. Donnino moved to this place.
